Restoration Technician Openings in East Lansing, MI

Job Purpose

To perform tasks involving physical labor in McCardel Restoration's restoration division. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools to clean and remove water, fire, flood, or mold damage from a client's home or business. The position may also assist the reconstruction division or contents division.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete contents tasks based on work orders.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of water, mold, and smoke removal procedures and develop knowledge of cleaning equipment.
• Maintain an understanding of technical construction skills, including but not limited to drywall, doors, windows, flooring, trim, cabinets, paint, roofing, siding, plumbing, framing, and more.
• Communicate daily job progress and employee performance of the restoration team to the Restoration Supervisor and/or Production Administrator.
• Collect information and communicate supplements and change orders.
• Provide accurate information to support the job costing process.
• Develop subcontractor and vendor relationships, monitor the quality and timeliness of their work on all projects, and report any issues to supervisors.
• Understand and utilize DASH, Nextraq, TSheets, and all company software to assist in completing job tasks.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain a clean job site by picking up all tools and equipment and securing the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Model and enforce company safety rules and policies.
• Complete emergency services and post-reconstruction cleanup work, which may include water damage, mold, sewage, and fire damage.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a cleaning or general labor position.
• Participation in the On-Call Program rotation.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid in-state driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Technology proficiency with iPhone, iPad, and Microsoft Office Suite applications is a plus.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work effectively with hands and tools.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
• Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude.
• Ability to complete work orders and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

This position requires working indoors and outdoors in various residential and commercial work settings. Physical effort is required to endure long hours working outside in extreme conditions and in awkward positions that may cause physical discomfort and strain. The position also involves lifting and adjusting heavy objects and working with materials that could cause injury or illness.

A typical workweek consists of eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week, with some weekend and on-call work as needed.

1. Physical activity requiring a full range of body movements, including the use of hands, feet, and fingers to handle or feel objects and operate equipment.
2. Physical activity that often requires walking, bending, sitting, and lifting for prolonged periods of time.
3. Physical activity that often requires bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and/or twisting.
4. Ability to lift more than 75 lbs.
5. Ability to travel by truck with a trailer.
6. Ability to push and/or pull more than 30 lbs.
7. Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
8. Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face-to-face for extended periods of time.
