Construction Project Manager Openings in East Lansing, MI

We are looking for a talented Construction Project Manager to help retain customers by fulfilling McCardel Restoration's contractual obligations through the timely completion of our cleaning and construction services. This position oversees and directs construction projects from conception to completion by managing your team and facilitating the timely and profitable delivery of all services while maintaining company standards for quality and customer satisfaction.

The Construction Project Manager will oversee onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with building safety and regulations. The applicant may also be asked to perform various duties such as water extraction, drying, and mold remediation on both residential and commercial properties.

Working Conditions

This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various settings, including residential and commercial worksites. Physical effort is needed to endure long hours working outside in extreme conditions and in awkward positions that may cause physical discomfort and strain. The position also involves lifting and adjusting heavy objects and working with materials that could cause injury or illness.

A typical work week consists of eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week, with on-call work as required.

Requirements

• Complete walkthroughs and write estimates with detailed notes.
• Manage projects through all stages of the life cycle and update project status as needed.
• Budget jobs and create supplements and change orders for additional items not included in the original estimate.
• Provide scheduling and direction to the office team and production team.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of technical construction skills, including but not limited to drywall, doors, windows, flooring, trim, cabinets, paint, roofing, siding, plumbing, framing, and more.
• Assist field employees with technical skills during complex job tasks.
• Deliver feedback to employees and manage performance by adhering to review schedules and completing disciplinary action processes as needed.
• Develop subcontractor and vendor relationships and monitor the quality and timeliness of their work on all projects.
• Understand and provide breakdowns of job costs as needed.
• Complete invoicing weekly with administration for progress billings and emergency work.
• Negotiate purchases of labor and materials while meeting Gross Profit Margin (GPM) goals.
• Manage company assets and equipment and ensure regular care and maintenance are completed.
• Model and enforce company safety rules and policies.
• Facilitate training of new employees and ongoing training and development of existing employees.
• Identify labor needs and participate in the interview and selection process.

Skills & Abilities

• 5+ years of project management experience and/or a BS in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes.
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
• Familiarity with Xactimate, DASH (job management software), Microsoft Suite, and SharePoint.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Ability to strategize and see the "big picture."
• Leadership and human resources management skills.
• Competent in conflict and crisis management.
• Knowledge of and ability to complete emergency services and post-reconstruction cleanup work, which may include water damage, mold, sewage, fire damage, and vehicle impacts.

Physical Requirements

• Physical activity requiring a full range of body movements, including the use of hands, feet, and fingers to handle or feel objects and operate equipment.
• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. and to stand, kneel, climb, and work in tight spaces for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
• Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face-to-face for extended periods of time.
